Helpa works because Jamaicans look out for each other. These four principles are how our best Helpers turn one-off jobs into steady earnings — and how we keep the platform safe, fair, and worth showing up for.
Do good work
Bring the skill, the tools and the pride. Every task is a chance to earn a 5-star review.
Show up
When yuh seh yuh comin', come. Keep your word and respect the Poster's time.
Talk it through
Quick replies and clear updates keep small things from turning into big problems.
Keep it honest
Real profile, fair price, no side deals. We win as a community or not at all.
1
Do good work
Your reputation is your hustle. The Helpers who treat every task — yard work in Spanish Town, a delivery in New Kingston, a quick fix in Mobay — like it's the most important job of the day are the ones Posters call back.
What's expected
•Take on tasks you can actually do. Have the right skill, tools and time before you make an offer.
•Price honestly. Lowballing to win the job and adding charges later breaks trust fast.
•Bring full effort to every task, big or small. The JMD 1,500 job today is the referral for next week.
•Put safety first — yours and the Poster's. If a task feels off, you don't have to take it.
Tips
›Add a clear photo, your parish, and the skills you actually have. A complete profile gets more offers accepted.
›Verify your ID when you're ready to take on higher-value jobs — it unlocks bigger tasks and builds buyer confidence.
›Quality over quantity. One 5-star task beats three rushed ones.
2
Show up
Posters book a Helpa because they need something handled. Once you accept, that task is yours — turning up on time and finishing the job is what separates a Helpa from a hopeful.
What's expected
•Only accept tasks you can fit into your day. Don't overbook yourself.
•Show up at the agreed time. If traffic, weather or life get in the way, message the Poster before they have to chase you.
•Finish what you started. Cancellations should be the rare exception, not a habit.
•If you must cancel, give as much notice as possible so the Poster has time to find someone else.
Tips
›Block out travel time between parishes — Kingston to Portmore in rush hour is not the same as Sunday morning.
›A quick 'On my way' message goes a long way.
3
Talk it through
Most bad experiences come from bad communication, not bad work. Ask questions early, confirm the details, and keep the Poster in the loop. Clear talk is free — use plenty of it.
What's expected
•Read the task properly before you offer. Ask anything you're not sure about so your price is right.
•Personalise your offer. 'Mi can do it' tells the Poster nothing — say what you'll do, when, and what's included.
•Reply quickly to messages, even just to acknowledge. Silence makes people nervous.
•When you're done, tell the Poster, show the work, and give them a chance to confirm before payment is released.
Tips
›After you're assigned, send a quick intro: who you are, what you'll bring, and the time you'll arrive.
›If the job is bigger than the post described, talk to the Poster before doing extra work — agree on a new price first.
›It's okay to say no to unreasonable requests. Polite and firm is fine.
4
Keep it honest
Helpa is built on trust between strangers. Every honest Helper makes the whole community stronger. Every shortcut makes it weaker — and shortcuts get caught.
What's expected
•Be yourself online. Real name, real photo, real skills. No borrowed reviews, no fake profiles.
•Keep payment and chat on Helpa. It protects you if anything goes wrong and proves the work was done.
•Treat every Poster and fellow Helper with respect, whether or not the offer goes your way.
•Flag suspicious tasks, abusive messages or anyone trying to dodge the platform. We'll handle it.
Tips
›A front-facing headshot and a short bio in your own voice make a real difference to how many offers you win.
›Big up your fellow Helpers — a culture of respect lifts everyone's earnings.
Why this matters
Posters keep coming back to Helpa because of the Helpers who live by these principles. More repeat Posters means more tasks, more offers, and more money in your pocket. Break the code and you lose work — and you make it harder for the next Helper in your parish to win theirs.
